Chapter Eight

“So much for being out with a bad boy,” Lily drawled as they left the orchard and headed back to Holly Springs. She tried not to feel disappointed she hadn’t already lost her virginity.

“Believe me.” Fletcher reached over and squeezed her hand. “You’ll thank me later when you’re ensconced in a nice comfortable bed.” Keeping one hand on the wheel, he lifted her wrist to his lips, traced the inside of it with his lips and tongue. “Your place or mine?”

She thought of the twin canopy bed she had slept in since she had been a little girl. And for a lot of reasons never bothered to change. “I think you have the more comfortable bed,” Lily allowed, aware, but not surprised at the way her heart was still pounding. After all, a big turning point in her life lay ahead…

“Good point.” His mouth kicked up at the corner. He steered the truck over into a gravel turnaround alongside the road, shifted it into park and leaned across to kiss her again, hard. She leaned toward him and kissed him back. He reached down and released his safety belt, then hers. The next thing she knew she was being shifted across the bench-style seat and onto his lap. He brought her down across his hard-muscled thigh and the proof of his desire for her. The fiery intimacy of the contact robbed her of breath and left her shaken as the demanding feel of him scorched through her jeans. If this was what it was like now, she thought, as his mouth continued to mate with hers, his tongue stroking, tempting, tasting, heaven help her when they got to the really good stuff. She was about to melt from the inside out as it was…

And he was just as hot and bothered as she was, his skin burning through the fabric of his shirt and jeans with fiery intensity as he took full, masculine possession of her lips, then moved to her ear. One hand came up to cup her breast through the fabric of her T-shirt, while the other was unsnapping then unzipping her jeans. Lily moaned as his fingers slipped beneath the lacey edge of her thong panties to find her…there. The contact shot a jolt of exquisite pleasure through her, making her moan. She heard him chuckle as he began to kiss her again, and then she was being shifted off his lap again onto the cool leather seat of the cab. She stared over at him, aware her nipples had hardened into aching points, and lower still, there was a telltale dampness…and pulsing need.

The windows of the truck were fogged up. Her head felt the same way. She looked at him from a misty, pleasure-filled place. “Did I…?”

“No, no.” He regarded her gently, looking struck by her innocence once again. “But you will several times before night’s end, I promise.” After reaching over to zip and snap her jeans, he refastened her seat belt then his.
